SWAN (Serving Women Across Nations) is a Washington based non-profit that provides education to children and microcredit (small loans) to women in Kenya and Bolivia so they can start small businesses in order to provide for their families. This year SWAN provided 45 small loans to women in Bolivia. For these women and their families, hunger and poverty is being overcome through opportunity and hard work. SWAN just began construction on a classroom in Bolivia for bi-monthly meetings where women receive ongoing training, and make loan repayments.

SWAN also assists American women in forming their own cygnets (little swans).  These cygnets (womens' groups) use the programs provided by SWAN to raise funds for poor women and children in Kenya and Bolivia.  Each cygnet 'adopts' a woman or group of women to help with microcredit and receives feedback from them in the form of pictures, letters and reports.
